Christmas Markets Outside of Copenhagen 2013

Now is the time of year when Christmas markets are springing up all over Denmark, this weekend in particularly there are a few specialty markets open which the whole family will love.  This list is off markets out of town that offer a magical look at Christmas with fun activities for children to do. So, take a train to cut down your own Christmas tree, go visit Santa’s traditional Danish countryside or try an organic traditional farm Christmas and walk through the forrest.  You will find a holiday tradition to share and enjoy with your children each year.
Rosendals Christmas Market 16 November – 23 December
The farm Rosendal by Ålsgårde just outside of Elsinore from 1826, creates the perfect setting for an authentic Christmas market. Beautiful Christmas trees and decorations. Children will delight in activities and sites of the season and meeting animals to pet.
Christmas at Fuglebjerggård 30 November – 8 December
Visit to the Christmas market with chef Camilla Plum. Free guided tour of the animals every day at 12 and watch Camilla tie a beautiful wreath each day at 13.  Tantilize your taste buds in the spice shop, bakery and farm shop at this food centric Christmas celebration.
Roskilde Christmas Market 30 November – 1 December
Roskilde large Christmas market is set for a day full of Christmas spirit with everything from basket weaving and children’s garments, to  venison salami and chocolates galore. 60 – 70 stalls of everything you can imagine. Children can hunt for elves in the Christmas tree forest or let their imaginations loose in cutting and pasting workshop.
Tisvilde Christmas Town  30 November – 2 December
Tisvildeleje becomes Pixie Wild and opens the doors to Tisvilde Christmas Town filled with fun, fun and entertainment. Buy Christmas tree and visit Santa’s workshop including boiled sweet and face painting . Santa’s post office has also opened a branch in Santa Wild with direct connection to Greenland to ensure that children want appears.
Christmas at Esrum  30 November – 1 December
Discover the best of European monasteries : beer , chocolate , cheese , soap , marzipan , wine , etc. produced on the functioning monasteries around Europe – find a beautiful gourmet selection of Esrum Abbey Christmas Market and visit the Christmas café in Abbot Hall.
Christmas Market at Krogerup Avlsgård  30 November – 2 December
Get back to nature and get in the Christmas spirit at Krogerup Avlsgaard as they welcome you to their organic Christmas market. The entire courtyard is buzzing with Christmas cheer from the variety of food stalls, lovely Christmas food and hot drinks to warm eager visitors. Charlie’s Patisserie beckons with cute Christmas cakes in the cafe. The bakery bakes crisp, langtidhævede bread.  The farm shop has organic Christmas goodies and inspiration for this year’s Christmas gifts.
In their beautiful big Lavutelt visitors make canoes with cinnamon and apples. Children can have a ride on a horse, jump in straw castle and go on julenisseløb. Inside the Christmas shop, children can decorate their own Christmas heart. The Danish Society for Nature Conservation will share with children and adults Denmark’s wildlife. Get up close to a fox, see a wild boar in the eyes, and swipe a hedgehog of its spines.

Christmas at Dyssegården all weekends –  23 December
Every weekend you can come to glorious Christmas at Dyssegården at Roskilde with Christmas tree cutting, lots of animals , hot chocolate, donuts, sales of Christmas ducks and julegæs and more.  Take the train or drive up and experience the great outdoor Christmas celebration and take home a tree.
