The Ny Carlsberg Glyptotek houses works of art and artifacts from the beginning of history in Mesopotamia, Egypt of the pharaohs, ancient Greece, Etruria and the Roman Empire – around the entire Mediterranean, as well as French and Danish art of the 19th century. The winter garden in the centre of the museum is an oasis in the heart of Copenhagen. Tropical pants, a pool with fish, sculptures and the beautiful domed glass roof create a tranquil retreat. The café which is situated on the right of the winter garden has to be the most agreeable location for lunch. The cafe prepares food to order and mainly uses organic and sustainable ingredients. The Glyptotek is a stimulating experience for older children with workshops, guided kids tours and the occasional treasure hunt. Younger children are welcome but prams and pushchairs have to be left outside the front of the museum. You can borrow one of the museums pushchairs once inside.
