Sledding in Copenhagen: The 10 best places for kids to enjoy the snow

Kids don’t need a ton of snow to enjoy sledding. There are many grass covered hills that are perfect for little kids and adults too to enjoy the whirl of fresh air streaming past their cold noses as they sled down a hill in Copenhagen.  We have put together a list of our favorite places to take a hill at 20 mph. At the first sign of sticking snow, drop everything, grab and sled and we promise you’ll enjoy a fun day with your kids!

1) Amagerstrand Beach  – Amager Strandvej, 2300 København

Grassy hills covered with snow and laughing children . This is our secret place to have fun during the winter. You can play on the playground, get dragged across icing areas, walk near the sea and take a sled run down one of many hills with endless possibilities at the bottom to go for miles.

2)  Ørstedsparken – Nørre Farimagsgade 6, 1358 København K

Ørstedsparken loans sleds during the weekdays, but on weekends you must bring your own.  The have several hills that are fun to slide down.

 3) Søndermarken – Roskildevej 1 2000 Frederiksberg

In Søndermarken there are good toboggan for children.
  4) Frederiksberg Garden – Frederiksberg Runddel 1 2000 Frederiksberg

Still a favorite place to sled near the Greek temple to the left of the castle. They also have ice skating here until March.

5)  Amager Fælled – Njalsgade 13 2300 København S

Amager Common has wide open areas that are perfect for snowball fights and running around.  There are many sledding paths for children to enjoy a good ride.  There are also hot drinks close by to warm up cold hands and tummies.

6)  Østre Anlæg – Stockholmsgade 24, 2100 København Ø

In the Eastern Plant middle of Copenhagen you will also find a good toboggan run. For you can hurtle from just behind the National Gallery of Art. So take the kids for winter tour, and discover a whole new side of the museum.

7) Valbyparken – Hammelstrupvej 100 , 2450 København SV

Valbyparken can also take you a trip to the sledge in the playground there are a hills to enjoy a good sledding ride. Weekdays you can borrow a sled.

8) Utterslev Mose – Utterslev Mose – 2400 København NV

Not too far from Copenhagen center is the park area known as Utterslev Mose.  There are many good hills to sled down and a lot of open space to make snow angels.

9) Many of the city’s playgrounds loan out sleds.

Try these 4 if you don’t want to drag your own on top off mini ones in cute now suits…Skydebanehaven, Remiseparken tæt ved legepladserne Bondegården, Bredegrund Byggelegeplads, Christianshavns Vold ved Elefantens Bastio.

10) Places outside of the City to catch some good wind in downhill sledding:

Outside the center of Copenhagen is good toboggan opportunities Djævlebakken i Ulvedalene in Dyrehaven or at Bagsvaerd Lake, in Bernstoffsparken, in Hareskoven, in Vestskoven or at the Gamle Golfbanein Værløse where you might get a wet head if you don’t stop in time.
